Himmelman Construction, Inc. (Himmelman), a privately held commercial General
Contractor headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado, recently announced the completion of The Pad Silverthorne,
a new boutique hotel with hostel-style accommodations. Located at 491 Rainbow Drive along the Blue River in
Silverthorne’s downtown core area, The Pad is open for business. This 2-acre, 3-story, 27,800 square foot
mountain hospitality project has a variety of unique design elements including the use of 16 prefabricated
shipping containers inconspicuously tied into a conventional steel and metal-framed construction.
Accommodations include dormitory style rooms, private rooms, lodging for extended stays, micro rooms, and
hostel-style bed rentals. The Pad offers skiers and vacationers a comfortable place to stay at very affordable
rates year round with a focus on communal areas and the interactions of guests. The Pad also includes a
rooftop deck and hot tubs, multiple common areas, spacious patios, a bar, and an outdoor event center. Design
services were provided by Oklahoma City-based Smith Design Company.
