Himmelman Construction Awarded Summit County New Search & Rescue Facility

Himmelman Construction, Inc. (Himmelman), a privately held commercial General
Contractor headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado, announced today the recent award of a new Search and
Rescue facility in Frisco for repeat client Summit County. The new operations headquarters is a new 17,000
square foot, 1-story, pre-engineered metal building with a built in mezzanine. It will house Search and Rescue’s
entire team in one centralized location in close proximity to Summit Fire and EMS’s existing facilities. This new
state-of-the art facility will include administrative offices, a training room, a rock climbing wall, conference rooms,
showers, and ample storage for all rescue equipment, which is currently stored throughout a variety of buildings
between Frisco and Silverthorne. Design services are being provided by Denver-based D2C Architects.
Search and Rescue operates under the statutory authority of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Founded in
1972, the Summit County Rescue Group (SCRG) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. Their mission is to
fulfill the Sheriff’s responsibility to provide backcountry search and rescue services to the county. SCRG is
comprised of approximately 65 active members, seven of whom are mission coordinators. SCRG receives 100
to 200 requests for help each year, and these requests usually translate into 50 to 80 “all-call” missions.
